For the homework this week, you got the opportunity to learn more about the events leading to the famous trial of Standing Bear. During the time he lived, the Native American people were oppressed and were even considered "wards" of the court. His case was important for eventually securing the freedom of his people. His speech during the trial challenges how we look at other people and how we view our own humanity. He makes a moral case for freedom by appealing to the people as a Christian who was created by the same God.
Imagine someone was going to do a contemporary musical about Standing Bear. They were going to use contemporary songs to tell his story. A large portion would be told using music.
In this blog, you will compose an original post that must include the following items:
1- First, you will pick the 5 important events from Standing Bear's journey that stand out to you personally.
2- Second, you will compose a modern soundtrack (of songs) that you think would express his feelings during those different events in his journey. For example, his son dies and he makes a promise. What song do you think would fit here? Why?
3- Third, you must relate why you selected that specific song to represent Standing Bear during that event.
Specifics: You must relate the 5 events. You must tell the song. Feel free to provide a link to the Song (e.g. You Tube). You must also tell why you selected that song to represent that specific event in Standing Bear's life. For example, was there a lyric in the song that made you think of this event? Explain your answer.
In this blog, you will compose an original response to 1 or more peers:
